Connect Ipad pro to laptop via usb and copy files from the D drive?!

Hi, I can connect the ipad via usb no issue... but I can only access the c drive of the laptop which is not where I store content - how (if possible) do you connect to the ipad to the laptops d drive? Thanks.

You would have to do it from the computer to the iPad. See here: link-> Use iTunes to share files between your computer and your iOS or iPadOS device - Apple Support

Perhaps the easier/easiest method of transferring files between PC and iPad, without a cable connection, is to install and use iCloud for Windows.

You can install and use both iCloud and iTunes for Windows on a PC; they will happily coexist - and provide considerable flexibility in how you move/share/transfer/manage data, photos and other documents between iPad and Apple devices.

Basically yes. Over a wired USB connection, the iPad won't expose its file system to the computer to drag and drop items outside of the DCIM folder for extracting photos , and if the D drive does not show up in the Files app on the iPad, then there's not much else to do.

There are some Apps that may let the iPad appear as a USB drive on the computer though but I can't really recommend any.
