Unable to send messages to Android from my MacBook Pro.

I've checked all the settings on all apps to be able to send messages to an Android phone number on my MacBook Pro 2019. All are set according to instructions. I still cannot send messages.

After contacting Apple support, we discovered my call forwarding and the other option there needed to be turned on my iPhone. Once I did, the issue was resolved.

The punchline is that those messages are literally are sent through your iPhone to the SMS message system.


So your phone must be logged in to the same Apple-ID, be powered on, and have cell service in range.


The article cited details the required settings, some of which are required in the iPhone itself.
