Getting Error 8266 on the movie Uncharted

I'm currently waiting to hear back from the Senior Advisor as to what the Apple engineers say, which she said could take up to 4 working days to hear back from them.

From experience, this is an issue purely on the Apple server side. I'm hoping like the last time it happened to me (it's happened to other people before with the latest Venom movie if you google search or search the community for iTunes error 8266) it will work itself out in about a week. There is literally nothing a user can do about it except either wait or get a refund.

You're correct, downloading on iPhone or iPad does work. Streaming on iPhone and iPad also works. However, the download does not transfer to PC via iTunes when you as to transfer purchase from the iPhone or iPad. Streaming on my Roku Apple TV app also does not work.

So something is weird server side with how Uncharted is provided to devices that aren't iPhone or iPad. Hopefull, as I said from previous experience (which also included the being able to download on iPhone and not iTunes on PC) it should start working in about a week.

Same. Either 8266 or -50 errors. Won't download on Itunes (either through the program or directly from the Apple store). Streams only the audio channels (black screen). Isolated problem to this show only; downloads and streams other purchases without issue.

Won't stream at all on either smart TV with Apple TV app or to an older TV connected to an external Apple TV box. Will download and stream to iphone or ipad without apparent issue (haven't tried to watch it in it's entirety yet).

Online chat help 20 minutes of "restart your router" etc before escalating. Call-backs failed (generic "sory we missed you email, but i've had my phone with me the whole time). Called them back myself; after a 45 minute call I am on tech #6 (repeating the entire story each time despite having a support ID code that has the issue documented) including being transferred from general issues to devices to billing (twice) to media support, only to be told they are the support team for Canada (I'm in Australia). After starting this whole process around 1900, I get told at 2155 that the local Australian support team is 0900-2100.........

I have the same issue with Uncharted as well (error 8266). Not the first time this has happened to me, I had the same thing with "Last Night in Soho" back in January when it first came out. It took about a week before I could download it.

What's different for me this time with Uncharted is that I also cannot stream more than about 2 minutes of the film on my Roku Apple TV app before the video stops and says "Video Unavailable". It is the only film I have that does this. Yet I can stream it fine on my iphone and ipad.

I contacted support about this issue this morning. Spoke to an Advisor, then a Senior Advisor, who has now esclated it to Apple Engineers.

My guess, in about a week, things will start working.

If your having problems downloading Uncharted try the following, it worked for me.

STEP 1. Launch iTunes on your PC.

STEP 2. Select Edit > Preferences on the menu bar on the top of your screen.

STEP 3. Open the Advanced tab

STEP 4. Click on Reset Warnings and Reset Cache, and then click OK to save the change.

STEP 5. Restart your computer, run iTunes, try to redownload iTunes movie again.

I have the same problem with uncharted I bought today around the same time you posted. I did however manage to download it directly onto my iPhone which uses the same appleid. Not sure if that helps diagnosis in any way.

As of this morning on the 29th April, Uncharted is downloadable for me via iTunes and also streamable on the Apple TV app on my Roku. This probably coincides with the release of the movie in a different region on this date, or Apple got it fixed on their servers.

It’s the iTunes apple servers. I just purchased it and then went to Amazon prime to watch the movie. It works fine on the Amazon servers. But definitely keep us in the loop because it’s the apple servers. Thx

The community forums are user based, I don't think Apple read them. Only way to get a response would be attempting to contact them directly via Apple Support.

Same here. Can’t download the movie, error 8266.

Windows 10, iTunes, i’m from Italy.

Since i buy on itunes because i can download my files in a windows directory, i’ll request a refund if the problem will not be solved soon.

Similar issue. All of the shows on Apple TV+ are streaming just fine on my TV. I purchased Uncharted and it plays for about 20 seconds then gives me an error message saying to check my internet connection (then stops playing). Internet is running at 900mbps, other streaming services playing movies just fine. Kinda annoying.

I’m having a similar issue on PlayStation. I can play every other movie I’ve purchased on Apple TV on PlayStation but when I try uncharted it gets about 5 seconds in and I get “video not available”. I’ve checked every other movie I have and all work completely fine
