My M1 MacBook Air's Battery is Not Charging Beyond 1% and Showing a ‘Service Recommended’ Message, with just 68 Charge Cycles used.

The macOS is up to date and the MacBook is just 14 months old.

It may not be just the battery that is the issue but the charging circuitry that is malfunctioning.

Contact Apple Directly (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201232 ) or set up a Genius Bar appointment at the nearest Apple Store or at the nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider and have the Mac evaluated.

Age or recharge cycles are not the ultimate determinants of battery health. Your battery is failing and service is required. As long as it's still under warranty, Apple will replace it at no charge to you if they determine the fault to be defective material of workmanship.

Being 14 months old, the one year warranty is gone. If you don't have AppleCare +, replacement cost will be yours to pay.
