disabling email read receipt

Apple is always finding ways to protect their customers, but one way they have ignored are read email receipts. I do not like people to know when I opened/read their email. It is an invasion of privacy. Apple needs to find a way to disable companies/people from knowing when their emails are opened/read. I truly can't believe this hasn't been a bigger issue considering it impedes on people's rights.
