The problem with using an older version of iTunes is that it will not have the correct drivers for a current iPad or iPhone, so the computer may not recognize the device when you plug it into the computer. iPhone will be able to tell if you have the latest version of iTunes. Given the fact that Windows 7 no longer receives security updates, I would not want a Windows 7 computer connected to my network and the Internet. Too risky.
