Minecraft won't launch anymore on Macbook Pro mid2012

Currently running MacOS Sierra. Minecraft was downloaded from Minecraft's website. Worked fine one day, and the next that launcher will not launch. It shows in the dock, bounces once and then disappears. Restarting the computer didn't help. Only thing that will allow me to play it to completely delete the game and all it's files and reinstall. But that only allows me to play once, as once I quit the game and shut it down, I have to restart this process all over again.

Game plays just fine otherwise, once I get it to launch.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome Chadder_b,

Based on your post, the Minecraft app will only launch once and work, otherwise, it closes unexpectedly. We'll do our best to help out with this.

It sounds as though the issue is isolated to the Minecraft app. Is that the case or have you experienced this issue with other apps, as well? We ask because if it only happens with the Minecraft app, then it would be best to contact the developer of the app to determine your next steps: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

If the issue happens with other apps, as well, what are these other apps? Do they also show up in the Dock, bounce, then close? Are you running the latest macOS Sierra version? Also, what is your MacBook Pro model (year)?

Have a good one!
