My Apple Watch has suddenly stopped working as before. When the watch face is displayed , it now won't roll up to allow silencing or putting it in airplane mode, etc. and it won't roll down to show notifications.

I had this a few times with my Apple Watch SE now. If it is still reacting to other movements on the screen you won't have to do a force restart. A normal restart (press side button and slide to turn off) worked for me with this problem

Restart the Apple Watch. Press the side button and crown together for about fifteen seconds until the Apple logo appears.
