Exposure on .HEIC previews not adjusting to screen brightness

When previewing an image/video on Finder or Preview, the image's brightness strangely goes up depending on the adjustable screen brightness. I believe this only happens to .HEIC files that I've directly AirDropped from my iPhone. Annoyingly, even screenshots are affected by this overexposure. I've attached two screenshots of the same image preview while displaying the laptop's brightness setting and a screenshot of an overexposed image (which was taken on iPhone without any brightness adjustments).

You talk about .HEIC but are showing .MOV files.

The last file is recorded in HDR. That is probably what explains the discrepancy.
