No hey Sir on a Mac Mini M1

Why can't I use hey Siri on a Mac Mini M1 and a webcam with a mic. The answer is not "Because there is no microphone on the Mac Mini M1 or is it? And why? " Why then can I use the same Webcam microphone on my Intel based MacBook Pro

Confirmed, have M1 Mac Mini and a Logitech USB webcam. I do not need to activate the camera but I do need to take physical action to trigger Siri. I either have to click the Siri icon on the menu bar or hold CMD + Space before I can talk to Siri. You can change the keys to press in the Siri System Preference pane. The microphone is engaged once you trigger Siri but there is no vocal trigger of "Hey, Siri" like on an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, etc.

Probably because external webcams are not active until you actually start to use therm, as such the microphone on the webcam is tuned off unless the webcam is being used. That means no audio is being picked up by it.

For Hey Siri to work, you need to have an active microphone.

I bet if you open an app that uses the Camera like PhotoBooth, and then say "Hey Siri" it will likely. work.
