Why do some Messages appear on my iphone but not my computer?

On my iPhone, the Message app has a filter for known and unknown senders. When I get a text from an unknown sender, it appears on my iPhone when I select that filter. I don't get those texts on my Mac. Why not? I have the most recent OS on both.

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 12.2

On the iPhone go to Settings -> Messages and make sure Text Message Forwarding is enabled for your Mac.

In Messages, any green colored texts are actual cell phone SMS/MMS messages while blue colored texts are going through iCloud. Blue messages are sync'd with iCloud but the green ones are forwarded.
