Why is AssistiveTouch required to be turned on for App downloading and paying with Apple Card?

The need to have AssistiveTouch turned on for App Downloads and for Apple Card payments on my iPhone just started three days ago. Why? How can I get around these extra steps?

You have some other setting that is conflicting with the Side button.

Go to Settings/Face ID & Passcode and make sure the switch for iTunes & App Store is on.

Also, Settings/Accessibility/Touch and make sure all Touch Accommodations switches are off.

And as a last resort Settings/General//Transfer or Reset Phone/Reset/Reset All Settings
