How can I record on iPad front camera while reading text on iPad

Was wondering if there was some way I record myself reading a text on my iPad screen while recording with the iPad front camera. Tried doing it with a split screen and but both iMovie and the iPad camera app quit when I had a document open. Thanks in advance.
