I want to only transfer selective data, is that possible?
I need to be selective about what data I transfer from an iphone8 to a new iPhone SE, how do I do that?

If you use any of the methods in Transfer data from your previous iOS or iPadOS device to your new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support it is all or nothing.
However, you can selectively transfer data (but not apps) using iCloud. So here’s a workaround to the all-or-nothing:
- On the old phone go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud and turn on the switches for all items and wait for them to sync to iCloud.
- Next, back up the old phone to iCloud or your computer (An iCloud Backup is completely separate from iCloud sync; there is no overlap of functionality). Any items that you synced will be excluded from the backup.
- Then restore that backup to the new phone to get all of the apps and system data transferred, remembering that any data you synced will still be excluded from the new phone.
- Finally go to Settings/[your name]/iCloud on the NEW phone and only turn on the switches for data you want on the new phone.
