Steve,

Thank you for those details. While taking photos with HDR enabled in the camera app, your photos should be HDR. How are you determining that your photos are not in HDR? Have you attempted to take different types of photos in different locations to test? Which iOS version do you currently have installed?

Also, let's go ahead and restart your iPhone. Even though this is a simple step, it may help.

How to restart your iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), 8, 7, or 6

  1. Press and hold the side button until the power-off slider appears.
  2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
  3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.

As outlined here: Restart your iPhone

Cheers!

Hi there Steve,

We'd like to try helping you look into what's happening with the HDR and the Camera app.

You mentioned disabling HDR, and that it's not taking HDR images. This is to be expected, but perhaps we're not quite understanding exactly what it is that you're asking. The more details you provide, the better equipped we'll be to assist.

Just in case you needed it for reference, this link shows how to Adjust HDR camera settings on iPhone.

Cheers!
