Yahoo Mail stopped syncing with Outlook for MAC

Has anyone encountered an issue where Yahoo Mail stops syncing with Outlook for Mac (365 version). I've tried syncing manually and removing and reinstalling the Yahoo account on Outlook but nothing changes. Weirdly though if I go back to the Legacy Outlook (I've switched to New Outlook in order to get access to my calendars) the emails are all there. Switching back to New Outlook they all magically disappear. The problem seems to have occurred in mid April.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you have tried some great troubleshooting steps to get your Yahoo Mail syncing with Outlook for Mac.

Yahoo is now using Two Factor Authentication and Outlook may not support that. We found this on the Yahoo support page that may help: Add two-step verification for extra security | Yahoo Help - SLN5013

Thanks Melissa, I haven't been using two step verification and I still had the problem so I don't think that was it. I've tried with and without it and nothing changes. Appreciate the response though.
