Top bar missing, and I am locked out of applications
When I shut down my Mac and open it up again, the top bar is missing, and I am unable to use Finder or type in applications like Safari or Word.

command-option-escape to force quit any open applications.
Note if you have an external display connected, the menubar may be stuck on that display. Limit yourself to the built-in display of the computer or one display if attached on a desktop
