Atmos or pcm???

Ok, here's the **** problem, my apple tv 4k will only play in either Atmos or pcm.. pcm is useless when using a surround sound set up.. anything I play on my apple TV 4k that I've purchased from apple plays perfectly in Atmos, anything that's not on Atmos reverts to pcm and there's zero surround sound on my atmos set up.. strangely, if I use the apple tv app on my Google TV set up, Atmos plays fine and none Atmos is played as dolby audio thus giving me 5.1 surround.. please for the love of God fix this on the apple TV box and force any none Atmos through as dolby audio!!!

What is your audio system setup?

Surround sound from Apple TV is supposed to be PCM Multichannel. It works as intended.

I can tell you, it does not work as I intended.. I have a LG Atmos soundbar 5.1.2 set up, Atmos encoded films play great, any 5.1 dolby films play as pcm and there is zero sound coming from my surround speakers.. if I pop into the Apple app on my Google TV with Chromecast, any none Atmos movies play as dolby audio and surround speakers work perfectly.. I would throw my apple TV box in the trash and just use my Google TV dongle but sadly I will lose all extra features and the ability to play extended cuts etc.. if I change the settings on my apple TV box to play as dolby 5.1 everything plays ok except then I lose the ability to play atmos.. I just can't see any way round it, I'm not even using arc/earc.. my apple tv plugs directly into my soundbar via hdmi
