Move an mp4 music file to Apple/Amazon Music?

I downloaded a song from YouTube onto my PC and then mailed it to myself as an mp4 attachment. I then opened my my mail on my phone, tapped to download, then when the option to play came up, I hit the share icon (the little page with an up arrow), in order to move it into my Apple Music library or, alternatively my Amazon Music app.

My objective is to be able to have Alexa access this song and play it upon request, either individually or as part of a playlist.

But neither of these apps shows up and I can’t for the life of me figure it out how to get this into either one of them. I would appreciate any insights or suggestions.

You’ll be better off trying to do it on the computer, to my knowledge, neither of those mobile apps support music file imports. Try with the Music (or iTunes on a PC, or older version of macOS) app, or the Amazon Music app.

I suspect the Amazon Music app on desktop doesn’t support music file imports either. Various comments online, and my own attempts to import my own music have resulted in me being unable to find the feature.

With the Music app, I suspect you’ll need an Apple Music subscription to be able to play the music on an Alexa enabled device, once you’ve added it to your library.

it appears you’re correct. I’m not able to import songs into either my Amazon or my Apple Music libraries on the PC.

I could do it if I had an Apple subscription but I wanted to have only one subscription so I chose Amazon since I have prime already.

This is NUTZ, I already own the song I want to add, I don’t understand why I’ve been prevented from adding it to my Amazon library.
