Using old iMac with dead logic board as monitor with new Mac Mini?

The logic board on my late 2015 27” iMac has gone kaput. Does it make any sense to think of using it as a monitor with a new Mac mini? It appears only some iMacs can do this. The problem is that the new Mac Studio Display Monitor is not shipping until mid-July, so am looking for an interim option. Thanks for any insights…

yes… it might be technically possible, though not that easy and there is a video on youtube of someone doing exactly that… however, in order to do so, you’d have to disassemble your 2015 27” iMac… which Apple discourages… does it make economic sense? I dunno… a new usb-c 27” monitor is around $400 and an hdmi monitor of the same size is.. around $300 ( depending on if you want 4k output… 2k output or 1080p would be cheaper) … for that mattter you could get a cheap hdmi tv from WallyWorld and it’d probably work, not pretty but it’d work… you could even buy a used 4k monitor in good shape locally… so would it be worth the fuss and expense to try the first bit? Probably not
