Add to VIP list

I have a VIP list but can’t seem to add one oarticular name to the list. What is wrong?

iPhone SE, iOS 15

You can make only 100 senders as VIP in the list VIP emails
I am not sure how many unique senders were in the Inbox of your email (Client Server name not mentioned)

I’m using Apple Mail on my iPhone SE 2nd generation. I thought there might be a limit on VIPs so I deducted 2 of them from the mere 12 I had! Help!
