Safari 15.4 Bookmarks in iCloud

Multiple Macs sync bookmarks via iCloud. In the process, the bookmarks "Favorites" bar is re-organized randomly, making it difficult to quickly find a category. The "Favorites" bar is essential for quick access to critical bookmarks.

This has only been happening since upgrading to MacOS Monterey with Safari 15.4. All previous releases worked perfectly.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello NoHypoMe,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. It appears that your bookmarks are being rearranged in Favorites since updating the software. To clarify, have you installed any Safari extensions? If so, be sure to update them as well. If your Safari extensions are up to date, turn them off temporarily to make sure they are not affecting Safari in unexpected ways. To do so, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Extensions. To turn off an extension, untick its box.

However, this may be expected behavior. If you’ve saved 500 or more bookmarks in Safari, your bookmarks may be rearranged as you’ve described.

If you have fewer than 500 bookmarks, however, we recommend contacting Apple Support for further help: Get Support

Best wishes!
