How Can I Keep Google Account Limits From Ruining My Life After Upgrading from iPhone 7+ to iPhone 13?

"You're signed in to the maximum number of accounts. To use another account, sign out of all Google accounts on this device."

So I've reached this page and my blood is now boiling, and what are my options... "No Thanks". That is the only actionable link on the page which brings me back to the list of ALL of the accounts I'd like to access, but with no option to sign out any of them or remove them from the list. The only way to do that is to go to Settings, Mail, and delete the accounts. HORRIBLE.

I'm so excited to have spent a small fortune upgrading my old iPhone 7+ to an iPhone 13 Mini only to learn that my work life will seemingly be ruined by new Google Account limits. I have multiple small businesses and am involved with various non-profits so keeping my different roles straight by separate accounts is absolutely crucial... and now I cannot see all of my email on my phone.

Not only is this limit ridiculous in the first place, but the fact that it somehow got WORSE for me when I got a NEW phone is unbelievably frustrating. Someone please tell me their is a fix or a workaround or Apple/Google will make this right!

THIS IS THE SOLUTION --- I don't know why there are so many replies about how this question doesn't belong here. Like many others, I've never had this problem before with 8 different Gmail accounts logged in (there are many valid reasons for why people might have to monitor multiple accounts), and even after I deleted 4 Gmail accounts from my phone, I still got the "You've reached the maximum number" message.

Clearing the cache on Safari allowed me to log into the new account without issue. I'm using the Gmail app, but I imagine the same solution will work with any app, including Apple Mail, using Google's authentication via the built-in (Safari) browser.

Hope this helps someone.

I had the same issue with my new 13 Pro. Since someone mentioned it was a google problem, I brainstormed from that direction. I found that I logged on using the Google app. I have several accounts and needed one in particular on my phone calendar. Once I was able log on, then I want to settings up my phone, mail, accounts, add account, Google...then it showed all my google accounts. I was able to select. It allowed me to add that account.

Hope this is helpful to you because it worked for me since it was a Google issue.

I upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 13 Pro Max and have the same exact problem! I called apple and they said to submit a feedback form. Here's the link and the feedback comment I sent apple today. Please feel free to do the same so they will listen to us!

Feedback - iPhone - Apple

I upgraded from iPhone 11 pro to 13 pro max and now many of my gmail accounts are not showing any mail. They guide me to reenter my gmail passwords. But that guides me to log out of all gmail accounts. But that doesn't let me log out of all gmail accounts. I like using the apple mail app because I can see all gmail accounts and which ones have received new emails for me to read. Now dozens of those gmail accounts are showing no mail on my iPhone because of this problem. I see from the apple forum that this problem has been happening for about 4 years for many other people. I provided the link for you to read about others having this same problem.

Wrong.. this is apple issue... Every time we attempt adding new email, by default, SAFARI APP is open to allow credentials to be inserted, then google servers are reached after pressing LOGIN.

Please: Remove all the accounts

Settings\safari\clear cache history.

then you will be able to login again! once you reach the max.... clean cache again...

THIS SOLUTION worked for me.

Yes. After contacting apple 5x, they all say to contact google. but the problem is within SAFARI. not google.! Google cant control settings inside safari. PS: Angels provided me answer to have this problema fixed hence I dont have any degree on computer programming ..... Blessings to you all :-)

In checking gmail help I found this:

The system usually takes into consideration multiple data points to determine if a sign-in for an account is genuine or not. As such, it will mostly treat the device and the location where the account was created and commonly accessed from (depending on other factors of course) as safe and trusted. However, if it detects an attempt to sign in to an account from a different device, location, & network, simultaneously from distant geographical locations, after deletion of browser cache/cookies, a device format or after a period of time among others, the system may, as guided by the flags raised, either insist on additional verification beyond the usual username-password combination, send out a suspicious activity alert for status determination, or deny access.

If you are able to sign in to your Gmail account through the desktop browser from that device, I'd recommend you do that for the time being. The system may allow subsequent access via the email client at a later date after it considers that set up as familiar and trusted.

And also this:

Are you able to sign in to your Gmail account using a browser from that device? If yes, please sign in from the browser first and then attempt to sign in from the email client.

Does this only happen while trying to sign in to an email client? If yes, are you able to sign in to your account from a desktop browser using the same password?

It could be possible that you may require to re-verify your client/device to Google.

Please keep in mind that before clearing the CAPTCHA, be sure to sign out of all Google accounts you may be signed into and then sign in to the account you want to add to that device. If need be, first sign out of all accounts from the browser and then only sign in to the specific account. Also, be mindful of the fact that you'd need to go through the process within 10 minutes of clearing the CAPTCHA.

If you have 2SV enabled, check if you need to use application-specific passwords.

I was not having this issue on my old phone 2 weeks ago so it would seem to me like the hardware/software change is probably the issue. I can't find any documentation about this on Google Support and am unable to contact anyone at Google.

*I'm asking on the Apple forum to see if anyone else has the same issue or has found a workaround.

This is 1,000% a Google problem that has nothing to do with your iPhone or Apple, and there is nothing Apple can do to fix a problem with Google, who, BTW, happens to be Apple's largest competitor.

If you have 2 factor authentication on your gmail accounts (you really have dozens of DIFFERENT gmail addresses?!) and you want to use the built-in Apple Mail app you will need to create new application-specific passwords for your gmail accounts, or reuse the existing application-specific passwords if you recorded them (you can also find them in your Google account settings). Your regular gmail passwords won’t work. The alternative is to use the gmail app. And, if you use the Google Authenticator for 2 factor authentication, you must reinstall it and reauthorize it.

Why are you only now respond to a 3 month old post?

And, as you may not be aware, Google is not Apple; they are competitors. And fixing any Google product used on any device is the responsibility of Google. There is nothing that Apple can do to make a Google product work correctly on an Apple device, as Apple does not have access to Google source code, just as there is nothing that Microsoft can do to make a Google product work correctly on Windows.

Your solution was a good one, but not your conclusion that it was somehow a flaw in Safari. Safari did what it was told; Google should have cleared its stored data after authenticating, both to prevent the problem you saw, and because leaving it there is a security risk.

It’s likely that Google did not plan for users to have multiple gmail accounts on an iPhone.
