M1 MacBook Air external dual screen > thunderbolt and AirPlay at the same time?

I'm looking to get a MacBook Air and need to connect to 2 external monitors. I have been told the M1 MacBook Air doesn't support this. However, I have tested my 2016 MBP and I was able to dual-screen by connecting to a monitor through the Thunderbolt port and then by extending the desktop to TV via AirPlay. This could achieve a 3 screen setup. I'm looking to replicate this with the M1 MacBook Air.

Is this possible?

I believe that the M1 MacBook Air does only support one external monitor (and so does the M1 MacBook Pro). If you need to connect multiple displays to a Mac laptop, I would recommend the MacBook Pro 14" with the M1 Pro chip since that is the base configuration and is cheaper.
