My 12 year old son logged out of his icloud I set up for him. Password has been changed somewhere along the way and now we are locked out. It says that it will send us an email with instructions in the next 24 hours. If we are locked out of icloud and do not have access to that email how are we supposed to do this?

once again sign in with Apple ID and new password with previous account credentials Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support
If rescue mail and Apple ID address were same the code can't be accessed as you don't have access to rescue mail address , you can reset the password using security questions and answers , date of birth .
If I am logged out of my icloud account how am I supposed to get my email?
