M1 iMac USB 3 port speed (NOT USB using Tbolt port)

I have been reading horror stories about using USB 3 gen 2 (10Gb/s) devices on the Thunderbolt ports of M1 Macs means slower speeds (5Gb/s?) unless a display is plugged in to the other Thunderbolt port or some particular docks are used.

OK, but what about the two USB 3 ports? Do they properly handle USB 3 gen 2 (10Gb/s) devices at full speed?

A number of recent posts reference this page, dated 4/18/22: https://eclecticlight.co/2022/04/18/m1-thunderbolt-ports-dont-fully-support-usb-3-1-gen-2/

There's also this from 5/19/21: https://eshop.macsales.com/blog/74780-faster-external-drive-speed-m1-mac/

Since the discussison is about the Thunderbolt ports, which is all that the laptops have, I'm curious about the two USB3 ports on the M1 iMac. I haven't seen any mention of that, so I came here to find out if anyone has information about it.

Your links don’t point to horror stories. Did you mean horrible 😁? That they certainly appear to be!

At any rate, this is not the right forum to use unverified blogs/magazine opinions as basis to start “curiosity” discussions. It’s more for technical questions having to do with your Mac & related peripherals.

Maybe post on macsales/eclecticlight? Better chance of a discussion there…

Good luck!
