Card Retry

Because everyone seems to be searching for an answer, I have it for you. If your credit card was declined, for what ever reason (no judgment), on the App Store or other iCloud service, and you want to force it to retry the payment without having to delete your payment method and re-entering the same card, here are the steps in iOS:


  1. Go to Settings > Apple ID (Your name and avatar at the top) > Payment & Shipping
  2. Select the card that needs to be updated
  3. Notice that Apple doesn’t give you the option to retry a payment, curse if you need to, but don’t fret.
  4. Select the Name under ‘Billing Address
  5. Select the ‘First Name’ field
  6. Add a space after the name and promptly delete the space
  7. Click ‘Done’ in the upper right hand corner of your display
  8. Give yourself a high-five because your card will now be retried because it was ‘updated’ 🙄
  9. Have yourself a better day. 😉
