Slow speed on new iPad Air. Is this usual?

After waiting for 5 weeks I just received my iPad Air today. Must say it's a bit of a disappointment. The advert on the Apple website talks of a very high speed - the fastest ever, but for me it disappoints, even when sat in the same room as the router. I seem to remember faster speeds with my basic iPad which I sold to get this.

My MacBook Air gives far superior speeds as well Is this usual?

The speed suggested for the iPad has no relation to your router. Its internal processing speed of the CPU.

The speed you are talking about with your router is your internet connection speed which has very little relation to the device. The iPad won't magically make your internet connection faster.

What kind of bandwidth are you paying for, for your internet connection? 50Mbps? 100Mbps? 1000Mbps?

If you go to https://speedtest.net does the reported speed match up to what you are paying for?

What exactly is being slow? Opening websites? Downloading apps? Getting email?

Thanks for the replies. I am on TalkTalk Fibre 67. I used the test link - thanks for that - and it showed my iPad Air and MacBook Air as having similar speeds.

I think I was expecting more after all the hype on the Apple website.

I tried to send this reply several times on my iPad but it kept rejecting it and telling me to try later. I am now sending it on my MacBook Air, so if it gets through maybe the iPad is faulty. We shall see.

Once again thanks for your time.

Regards

Ron
