Hi emg_24,

That type of error/language is usually indicative of an issue loading a specific site or service. We would suggest testing other sites to ensure you are able to load websites properly.

If other sites do not load on your device than it may be an issue with either the device or network.

Here is a great resource if that is the case: If your Mac isn't connecting to the internet over Wifi. In particular you may want to restart your mac and follow the instructions to use the built-in diagnostics as well:

Use the built-in diagnostic tools
Wi-Fi Recommendations. Click Wi-Fi  in Control Center or the menu bar and check for a menu item named Wi-Fi Recommendations. If you see it, your Mac has detected an issue and has recommendations. Choose Wi-Fi Recommendations to learn more.*
Wireless Diagnostics. Press and hold the Option key on your keyboard while clicking Wi-Fi  in Control Center or the menu bar, then choose Open Wireless Diagnostics from the menu. Learn more about using Wireless Diagnostics to analyze your wireless environment.

If other websites are able to connect just fine we'd recommend taking a look at Facebook Messenger's support website for further help: Messenger Help Center.

Take care!
