Review Large Attachments

I am trying to delete attachments from iMessage on my iPhone. There used to be an option under Settings > [my name/AppleID] > iCloud > Manage Storage >

to "Review large attachments"

But it's no longer there. See the screenshot below. The only option is to "upgrade".

Any idea how I can get that option back?

Help much appreciated.

Hello dawngreg08,

Thank you so much for your answer. However, I'm not trying to free up space of my iPhone storage, where I still have plenty, and rather in iCloud. In other words, I'd like to keep the messages including attachments on the phone, but delete them from iCloud so they don't use up my iCloud space. Any ideas?

Hello TheLittles,

Thanks for those hints, however, I don't think this is what I'm hoping to achieve.

I followed the link and it gives instructions on how to download files from iCloud. But I couldn't find any way to access my iMessages. I'm hoping to delete attachments from iMessages. But when accessing iCloud from the browser there is no way to access iMessages, let alone deleting attachments in bulk.

Hello jandavid,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

If we understand your post correctly, you're trying to get delete some attachments that you have in text messages but no longer see the option in Settings to do so. We'd like to help!

It looks like you're in the iCloud settings and that is why you aren't see the option to delete attachments.

  1. Tap the Settings app.
  2. Select General, then iPhone Storage.
  3. Select Messages
  4. Tap Edit and select the attachments that you want to delete and tap on the trash icon in the top right corner.

Hope this help!

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Take care!

Thank you for clarifying.

This is not an Option:

What you are looking to perform is not an option. To get a record, scroll down while screen record. See what occurs. Go here: Record the Screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Provide Apple Feedback:

Do your Part: You can recommend to Apple that they make this a feature of FaceTime.  Apple won't get back to you directly, but the more feedback they receive on this, the more they will know what their customers prefer, and what changes to make in versions to come..

  1. Go Here: Feedback - Messages - Apple
  2. Select: "Feature Request" for the "Feedback Type"
  3. Select: "[your location or region]" for "What country or region are you in?"
  4. Comment: that you want this to be an option
  5. Proceed from there as necessary
