find purchased music on itunes
I purchased an album on itunes in May 2018 and I can see it in my account purchase history but I can't see it in my itunes purchases view to download it onto other devices which I'm signed into

No - I’d already looked at that. The item is in my purchase history in my account and even in the store it shows as purchased. The problem is when I go to ‘more’, ‘purchased’ it is not in the list so I can’t download it

No - doesn’t address the issue as previously described. If it’s hidden (music album) the help doesn’t describe how to unhide on the iPhone, which is where I want to download it to

Have you tried syncing from iTunes to your iPhone?

See Hide and unhide music, movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and books - Apple Support. You'll need to use iTunes or Music on a computer to unhide the hidden purchase, assuming that is the issue.
