My MacBook Pro start up doesn't complete

Turned encrypt off. However the process failed in Recovery area. Check disk utility failed to complete . Start up doesn't complete. Safe start doesn't complete. Can't access the computer to erase and reinstall. Suggestions?

MacBook Pro 13 retina 2015 Monterey current. Plenty of space on the SSD.

Problem maybe caused by the parallel container.

That was only a guess because time machine doesn't back the Parallel 20gb file, it's backed up seperately. According to the reply it is the apple logo shows and the progress bar stops halfway and it was given overnight to che k if it could figure out the hang. The disk utility also hangs.

Tried contacting support but it is in Portuguese. Tried figuring the right answers but terminated the session with a chat ID.

Would be useful to forward the matter to a English speaking the tech. Or visit the local computer shop. At least the backup completed before the failure.

Any way to forward this to a US or GB tech? Or call iphone US +1 404 410 1733 or PT +351 927982321

Changing the state of encrypted/decrypted appears to complete in under a minute. HOWEVER...

...all that is completed in that time is changing the requested state. The actual conversion of your drive requires reading in each and every block of every file in one state, and writing it out in the other state. That process is done at low priority in the background, but only when your Mac is not busy, and only when your Mac is awake. The actual conversion process will take at least half-a-day.

Shutting down or restarting your computer or running Disk Utility will not stop the conversion, only slow it down. The conversion will just resume later. Conversion MUST go to completion, and no cancellation or additional changes in state can be requested until the initial change of state has been completed.
