For issues with a forgotten Apple ID/iCloud password, you may find the available methods of resetting the password here: If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support
In particular, if you have a trusted device that the Apple ID is signed into already, use the steps to reset it from Settings/System Preferences there.
If the above steps don't help, and the account has two-factor authentication enabled, then you may try using account recovery. Details on that here: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support
As the page helps to note, "For security reasons, it might take several days or longer before you can use your account again. We know this delay is inconvenient, but it's important so that we can keep your account and information safe."
