Songs are played from cloud instead of local drive after restore from backup

I had to replace my MacBook and after backing it up to Time Machine and restoring everything, my Music app with iCloud Library turned on only shows songs from the cloud (location = cloud) but I have all the files locally on my drive (iCloud drive actually but they are all downloaded).

How do I force a rescan to play them from my drive?

Help!

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

Option-starting-Music ensures the library really is using the selected library, and hasn't somehow remained connected to a deleted file or a hidden cached version. If the library was connected to locally stored files when you took a snapshot the restored version should be connected to the same files too, however Apple don't really support storing your media in cloud storage, so perhaps something odd happens the first time the restored library is opened. See also Empty/corrupt iTunes/Music library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community. An "empty" library can show all of your iCloud Music Library in the cloud.

If it isn't possible to restore a working copy of the library the other approach is to import all of the local media. The imported files should merge with the cloud content, although in some cases you may need to sign out of the store and then sign in again.

Nope. The only solution is to add the local files to the library again, it will figure out by itself the cloud ones are duplicates and it will remove them, but this will mess up the date added on all the songs! They will all have the current date as date added, but only on the Mac. On the iPhone they will still have the old dates. It's a total mess!

Already tried that, doesn't work. I used a manual backup of the file from my iCloud Drive. This is how I usually do it when I set up a new Mac BUT when I also have the old one available. This time I had to backup, erase the old one, send it back and wait for the new one. First time I restore from TM also.

PS: you don't really need to keep Option when opening Music, it will load the same file by default

I've tried everything, still doesn't work.

I have given up and tried adding one song from the local drive to the library, it figured out it was a duplicate and removed the cloud version, BUT now the local song shows up as added today, with today's date. I keep my songs sorted by date added and on my Mac the new song shows at the top, while on my iPhone, it shows at its previous location in the list (based on the original added date).

This is driving me crazy. I have tried turning off iCloud library on the phone and Mac, and then turn it back on, nothing changes, I can't force my Mac or my iPhone to refresh the library and show exactly the same list on both of them!
