I am currently using Pages (v. 12.0) to develop a lengthy research report. While editing, I need to review and reference other sections within the report quickly.

I have already read in the support community that there is no 'split view' feature, similar to MS Word, but are there any workarounds?

Hopefully, Apple will consider this feature in the following Pages update.

"Hopefully, Apple will consider this feature in the following Pages update."

Apple provides the space for this user-to-user community, but Apple's participation here is minimal. Hosts/Moderators monitor for adherence to the Terms of Use that you agreed to on registering as an ASC user, and Community Specialists monitor for questions which have not received a reply to the original post within a reasonable period (about 24 hours), and usually provide direction to a knowledge base article relevant to the issue.

Apple's development teams do not read these discussions, nor do they post in these user-to-user communities.

Use the Provide Pages Feedback menu item in the Pages menu to make a Feature request directly to Apple.

Barry

You can concurrently open that Pages document in Preview as a read-only entity and use that as your document viewer while revising the original in Pages. The Preview version will not update as changes are made to the original. To arrive at this Preview solution, right-click on that Pages document in the Finder and select Open With > Other… That will open the /Applications folder with the category Recommended Applications and Preview will not be selectable. Change that selector to All Applications and then choose Preview.

Another alternative would be to place a copy of the original document that you are editing in a separate folder location and open that with Pages. That second copy would be editable and you maintain the mental organization to not edit both.
