M1 MacBook Air Screen Scratched By Keys?

Hello all. I have noticed the last couple of weeks key marks from my keyboard have begun showing up on my display when I open it. Today, I noticed a small scratch on my display near where these key marks show up. I tried cleaning with a microfiber cloth dampened with water (as directed by apple) and nothing came of it, and you can feel it's a different texture compared to the rest of the screen. I've heard that it is an issue for the keys to hitting the screen and scratch, and I'm fairly certain this is an issue because I keep my keys and screen free of debris and haven't brought anything to the screen that would damage it. Is this covered under apple care plus or consumer law? And how can I prevent this from happening more?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

I have seen issues with cracked screen but never marks from the keys. The screen should not be touching the keys. If they are I would take to Apple dealer for review.
