iCloud Drive

What is the best way to undo iCloud Drive for Desktop and Documents? I want to see my desktop files on my desktop (not the desktop folder) and all my documents back in a document folder on iMac, like it was before. Changed my mind and don't want ALL those files on my iCloud account. Thank you.

Two things you can try. Go to System Preferences/iCloud (Apple ID for Catalina or later), select iCloud Drive, and then Options. Turn off Optimize Mac Storage. Then wait a day or so to see if the Document folder and the Desktop items sync back to the computer or make iCloud Drive visible in the Finder Sidebar and drag the files to he computer.

Or under Options, uncheck Documents and Desktop syncing.
