2021 IMac

iMac 2021 means this Mac is Apple silicon M1, which means this is not Intel, and this means no Boot Camp support.

While there is unsupported Windows ARM64 AArch64 software available for Windows Insiders, there is no supported and purchasable version of Microsoft Windows for Apple silicon M1 processors.

Apple does not presently offer Boot Camp for M1 systems. That may or may not change, but Microsoft would (also) have to start selling licenses for Apple silicon processors for Boot Camp to be interesting to most folks.

You would then have an iMac 2020, and not the iMac 2021 that was stated earlier.

iMac 2020 has an Intel processor. The iMac 2021 mentioned earlier does not.

Here is how this is supposed to work: Install Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp Assistant - Apple Support

Follow the steps documented in that link.

Should those steps malfunction, please post the step that failed, and please also post the text of the error messages and diagnostics that might be shown.

If there are add-on VPN client apps installed, or add-on security apps installed, remove all of those per the vendors' instructions, restart, and try again.

Been there - done that - Also I already admitted to the mistake re model year so no need to dwell. These instructions call for using Boot Camp Assistant to perform the required steps - please go back to the very first question in the thread

Here are the documented steps: Install Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp Assistant - Apple Support

If Boot Camp Assistant is not available in Applications > Utilities folder on macOS 12.3.1, then your macOS install is corrupt. Reinstall macOS. You should be able to reinstall macOS without erasing, and without data loss. But do have backups of your data. And best leave system integrity protection enabled, if that somehow got disabled.

If you do have Boot Camp Assistant in the Applications > Utilities folder, and also do have an add-on VPN client or add-on "security" apps installed, remove all of those, restart your Mac, and try again.

If you have Boot Camp Assistant and the documented steps are failing, post the step and the messages.

Otherwise or failing all that, best contact Apple Support. Use the Get Support link in the upper right of this webpage.

And yet when I go to “about computer” it says Intel Processor? Also - I have already used boot camp on this machine - in fact I currently have a functioning boot camp partition. However the Windows OS seems to have become damaged beyond repair. In order to fix this I was going to start from scratch and eliminate the boot camp partition then start the process again. But from the instructions I have seen I need bootcamp assistant to do that. And I can’t find it.

When you go to "about computer", what model/year does it say? Take a screenshot and post the image here. Hide the serial number in the image before posting to image.
