3G Shutdown

Will my iPhone actually be affected? Because I got an email from Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) saying that my iPhone would be even though it gets a 4g LTE signal. I have a iPhone 5s

Yes. Your iPhone 5s will not work. Voice calls on LTE require a hardware capability called Voice over LTE. Only the iPhone 6 and later have that capability. Older iPhones like your 5s use 3G for voice.

From what I've heard, US carriers will not allow older phones like your 5s to connect to their network. I don't know if this is true or not. It certainly doesn't need to be true, since there are lots of cellular devices that don't have any voice capability. But I can see where carriers will want to see new phones and new service plans, so I don't doubt that it's true.
