text mesaages time change

My text messages time keeps messing up. Messages from yesterday will suddenly show as a lot older, and super old messages will somehow be shown first saying they were sent 2 min ago

the order of the messages changes all the time and I can never find messages I am looking for. Anyone know what to do?

Hi Tzge,

If you'd like your text messages to show the correct time, these steps might help.

Try these steps first

1. Restart your device:
- iPhone
- iPad
- iPod touch
2. Check your network connection. To send a message as iMessage or MMS, you need a cellular data or Wi-Fi connection. To send an SMS message, you need cellular network connection. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling, you can send SMS messages over Wi-Fi.
3. Check with your carrier to see if the type of message you’re trying to send, like MMS or SMS, is supported.
4. If you’re trying to send group MMS messages on an iPhone, go to Settings > Messages and turn on MMS Messaging. If you don't see an option to turn on MMS Messaging or Group Messaging on your iPhone, then your carrier might not support this feature.
5. Make sure that your device has enough space to receive images and videos.
6. Make sure that you entered the correct phone number or email address for the contact.

If you see a Waiting for Activation alert, learn what to do.

The information above is from If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. While we understand that the messages are eventually coming through and sending, this is these are the best steps for your situation. It's likely the messages very likely the messages aren't sending, rather than the timestamp changing later. If you think the messages are sending, try calling a friend at the same time your texting them and see if they get that text message. If the issue continues after following the steps from above, then let the community know what you found when you tried that test, and checked your network connection in step two. Also, let us know what you found when you checked with your carrier in step three.

We hope that helps with your question and take care!

I am talking about received Sms messages

i for example get a message today (messages actually sent today like confirmation code to an app I just tried entering) I read it

5 min later I open my messages again and it’s gone somewhere with old messages as if it were sent ages ago. The date on the message is suddenly of last year January.

then an old message from a school mate (which went to school with me 5 years ago and which I already saw 5 years ago) saying let’s revise for the test at yours

pops up as it were sent right now.

the time stamps just keep changing for all text messages (sms) randomly nothing to do with connection or something like that

i have moved to apple from Samsung and some of the messages are old messages from my old phone and I think that’s what’s messing everything up.

but I thought apple was better then that for one

and second even if that has anything to do with that, only old messages should mess up. I don’t understand why new messages time stamp keeps changing

anyone?
