Show notification contents only after unlock

Just updated to ios 15.4.1 from 14.8. Used to be able to rest my thumb (not click/press) on the home button to unlock the lock screen and preview the contents of all the notifications without actually opening the device and clicking on the individual notifications and without proceeding past the home screen then swiping down for notification center again. Now I cannot just rest my thumb to get this info. I checked the settings and they are the same as they were in the previous version for notification previews (only when unlocked). Is there another setting I am missing somewhere to get this previous functionality?
