I think we have the ability to see what appointment times are available for almost any Apple Store - possibly anywhere in the world if we can figure out the language? I've checked that out myself when people asked for help, but the important thing was the steps to get where one could find an appointment time. The runaround to get to that point is what can be especially maddening.
I personally need a new battery (along with some mysteriously missing screws that I'd never seen missing) but I tried it out.
I went here:
Mac Repair - Official Apple Support
Clicked on "Start a Repair".
Clicked on "View Your Products", then selected "Show All" because I have a lot registered to the same Apple ID.
Clicked on "Battery and Power".
Clicked on "Battery Performance", then "Continue".
My only option was "Bring in for Repair" with "Find a Location", and for some reason it thinks I'm near Sunnyvale, California. That give limits, but then I click on where it thinks I am and I have an option to select a different location. I entered Elk Grove, California for the OP, where Arden Fair Mall is the closest location. It said the first available time for the Arden Fair Mall location is tomorrow (5/15/2022) at 1:35 PM. But if I click on that time I can see the store page and more dates and times.

From iOS device using the "Apple Support.app” to make a online Genius Bar appointment is easy:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/apple-support/id1130498044?mt=8
or
Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple
Outside the USA

Understand that Apple uses a "triage" system for support that walks you through a series of questions to determine what is the most appropriate service action. An in-person visit may not be required.
Also realize that, in some Apple stores, booking of appointment t is very high and you may find the next available slot weeks out.
