Go to subtitles and change to English. You’ll still get captions, but they’ll be in English.

Pause movie. Push up on your controller. Go to middle icon that looks like a volume control. Choose English.

All good everyone my daughter fixed it in the language button on the bottom right. Now I get the English when dialogue is in The Arab and Israeli languages and nothing when they speak English. And to the last post I’m not sure what you are watching but there is plenty of foreign dialogue in season 2. Even Glenn close speaks in another language in some scenes.
She simply took the remote out of my hands and moved the cursor to a small icon on the bottom right of the toolbar and hit one of buttons. I feel like one of the geezers on the Progressive commercials.
Similar issue. I tried messing with the settings and started getting subtitles on everything including English subtitles on English dialog. Super annoying. The settings in the Apple TV settings and in the in-program subtitle options produce weird and unpredictable results.
Yes but why would you want English subtitles when they are speaking English, all the way through the program? Season 1 was not like this. If English language was selected, only displayed subtitles were when a second language was spoken. You would assume Automatic would do this but it does not. It’s really hosed.
Some people either require or simply prefer having subtitles on while watching tv in general. I’m on season one. They definitely don’t speak English all the way through and there were no automatic changes when a second language was spoken. I had to change subtitles to English manually?
"How did she do it? That's what I was trying to get to, but none of the options I picked every worked - always still got English subtitles for English dialog. Not a disaster but kind of annoying."
+1 on that. I changed to English, English subtitles are displayed for all dialog - Farsi, Hebrew and English!
I watched the first couple of episodes and was able to use the automatic setting but it’s not working for E3 - always on. Best I can do is choose English. Auto does not work.
Ditto

She's good! :)
