Can't log into MacBook air forgot username, please help!

Correct, but username is blank, when I put username/password in nothing happen. I've even tried recovery mode.

If that does not help, which of the screens in the following Apple Support document are you encountering?

If it's none of them, describe what you see.

Also be aware of the following: If you see an 'Unable to sign you in to your Apple ID' message - Apple Support.

I got my username, however I think I've locked myself out. Is there a remedy to this?
All that is showing on the screen are:
name
password
shut down
restart
sleep
top right hand corner ABC and battery symbol
Your user name is display on the login screen every time you power up the Mac.
