Timer from the control center on my iPhone

The timer in the control center of my iPhone 8 doesn’t go off when I set it. There were times when I would set something from the control center making it easier but when I check the time it shows nothing like no sound or vibration. I set a timer for 3 minutes and I didn’t get a notification at all

Tap Clock on your Home Screen

Tap on timer

Where it says "When timer ends" check there is a valid tone set.
