So the Actual Installation process and NotYet started.
The Download of the 12 + GB of the Full Version of Monterey installer is the issues.
There are factors:
1 - Like poor Wifi connection
2 - Slow wifi connection
3 - Too many other people downloading at the same time and Apple Severs are overloaded
4 - Software on the computer interfering with the download process including AntiVirus Software
Notation: Disabling the AV Software may or may not solve the issue. Removal of the AV Software may increase the chances of the download to perform as expected.
5 - Running behind a VPN which may increase Packet losses or corruption of the download
6 - If via wifi too many Other devices using the wifi at the same time reducing the Bandwidth to your computer.
7 - Best Results are via Ethernet Cable to Router

Q - " I use Sophos AV software and have it temporarily disabled "
A - So the proof appears Disabling the AV Software may or may not solve the issue.
Removal of the AV Software may increase the chances of the download to perform as expected.
Can not speak directly to this ( your ) computer issue except to compare.
Had a 50 MB/Sec. download MAX. speed previously, over Wifi ac 5mHz connection and could download the Full Version ( about 12.17 GB ) via Terminal Command " softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.4 " without Quotation Marks in about 45 - 50 minutes start to finish with a new application in Applications folder called Install Monterey
The only thing can be suggested is restart the Router and computer. Restart in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.
Then, attempt the download once again.
Followup

This will included Norton Antivirus , Sophos Av Software
Intego AntiVirus, McAfee, MacKeeper, Avast AntiVirus
The The Built in Security is all that is required.
Just wanted to let you know I think I got to the bottom of the issue with the downloads. I started my VPN and proceeded to download the updates. Amazingly no issues. Downloaded well. No delays. Ran speed tests with and without the VPN with no discernable difference. This test pretty much rules out my ISP as the problem and points suspiciously at APPLE as I have no problems with downloads from any other sites with or without the VPN. Go figure.
Terminal Command " softwareupdate --fetch-full-installer --full-installer-version 12.4 " without Quotation Marks
Has that been attempted
What is presented in above is the iffy at best Software Update Applet
Aside from that, the Actual Comcast Connection which is totally out of my purview to comment on.
https://www.speedtest.net/ and run a test - are you getting what you have paid for ?
As has already been mentioned in earlier posting

St what stage of install are you at?
Did the Montereney fully download?
Did you then click on install and select the disk to install Monterey?
Provide your admin password to authorize the install?
Once the installer is running a progress bar is show with estimated completion time. Are you saying the installer is running and has said 8 hours remaining after running for 2 yours?
What specific Mac? Is it upgrading the internal drive?
If it ran overnight with no progress I would terminarte and try again. Press and hold the Power button if necessary to terminate.
Please read the following user tip and restate your question/problem in detail:
Writing an Effective Apple Support Communities Question - Apple Community
Slow is a relative term. What do you mean by slow?
What version of Monterey are you trying to install? Is it a full upgrade or just a update?
What system are you running now?
What speed internet access do you have? Are you connected by WiFi or Ethernet (Ethernet is must faster and more reliable than WiFi).
What type of drive are you trying to install on? How much free space does it have?
It's installing and what i mean by slow is that it says it's going to take 10 hours to install I have great wifi I cleared user data and I do not know what the drive is but it's a M1 mac
It did install but it did take around 10 hours
Sorry to reply this way but this is an Apple issue. I have a 1gig hardwired service (Verified) and it can take 2 days to download. I do not have this issue with any other service.
Define "great".
What system are you currently running?
Are you connected via WiFi or Ethernet?
How long have you let it run to see if the 10 hours estimate is anywhere near accurate. My last update to 12.4 took about 35-45 minutes with Ethernet and these internet access speeds:
Thanks for the response. It is appreciated. My wife recently bought a new 14" MBP and is giving a grandchild her old MBA (2017). I was asked to wipe it in preparation for shipment. In attempting to download a fresh copy of Monterey 12.4 I experienced a problem with the download. I restarted everything router, iMacPro, and checked everything. and nothing changed. I restarted the download again nothing. I downloaded it on another mac same. Had a Comcast technician come by. and check He spent an hour troubleshooting. Nothing. Download rate to the back of my iMacPro 980 mbs+. Same to the other mac computer I chose. Downloaded a movie to check, and it was fine. My wife is an auditor, working from home transferring large spreadsheets, with no issues. No I am afraid it is APPLE. Image below taken 5 min ago started after the Comcast guy left yesterday.
Thanks Again,
I selectively use a VPN. I do not have it on at the moment. I use Sophos AV software and have it temporarily disabled. As you can see below I have reasonable download speeds.
I attemped the terminal command. Same result it stops dead a 52%
Disagree.
Suspect Comcast is the issue
Just started the download from my location over Wifi ac Connection with older connection still in place 50MB/Sec Max and already @ 25 % after 10 minutes and still counting down.
Anticipate a Full Download in the 45 - 50 timeframe
