Perhaps the easiest and fastest method of transferring photos is to use an SD Card reader.
Assuming that your iPad has an Apple Lightning connection (as likely suggested by the tags appended to your post):

If instead you have a more recent model of iPad or iPad Pro that features a USB-C port:

You might also consider a direct connection between your cameras USB port and your iPad using an appropriate data cable and adapter, however, the cost is likely to be greater - and the transfer rate slower. Again, assuming your iPad has a Lightning port:
