Just got the new Sony A7 iv and was wondering if anyone knew when its raw files would get support? Currently have to convert them to dng in order to even view them. I can't seem to find any documentation on upcoming camera support.
As an end user like yourself we are not privy to Apple's scheduled Raw Support updates (which come in system updates) so can't help you.
However, until the Sony A7 is supported you might look into using Adobe Digital Negative Converter which can convert them to a dng file which Photos can use.
Thanks for the suggestion! That is actually what I currently use but when I travel I only take my iPad Pro so I can't use ADNC until I get home. Just looking to save some time and start culling/editing photos.
I read that it happens in system updates but sounds like you answered my question in that they don't list an estimated date or keep a running list of future camera support. I guess we will just have to wait and see when it gets added.
