Unfortunately, your Mac doesn't broadcast its location while it is powered off. You will need to physically locate it.

If your Mac is asleep (not powered off), and Find My Mac is enabled, your Mac will try to communicate with nearby Apple devices over Bluetooth. If successful, the nearby devices will upload your Mac's location to Find My, so that you can find it.
