Steam Game Icons won't delete

I downloaded games from Steam using the Steam app onto my Macbook Air (M1 2020). After deleting the apps from my Steam library the thumbnails still remain. I've tried dragging it to the bin but nothing happens. The games don't show up in my applications so I can't delete them that way either.

I've contacted Steam already but they suggested it was a Mac related issue.

Not sure if anyone else has had a similar issue - but it's kinda frustrating.

Everything on my laptop is up to date.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

Hello!

In order to delete the Steam Shortcuts you need to delete them from the Applications Folder of your local account.

To do that:

  1. Open Finder
  2. Press Shift + Command + G, to bring up the "Go" window
  3. Type ~/Applications and press return to open the local applications
  4. Find the Steam Icons you want to delete and select them.
  5. Press Command + Backspace to Move them to the Bin.

Hope this helps!

Hey there, smellyapple.

If you haven't yet, you can see if restarting your MacBook Air may help: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support Restarting may seem like a simple step, but it can sometimes help resolve issues.

We see that your MacBook Air is running macOS 12.3. The current version, at this time, is macOS 12.4. If your MacBook Air is still running macOS 12.3, you can back it up and update to see if that helps:

Another step, does this happen in a temporary new user? Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac A new user doesn't have custom or changed settings, and can help determine possible next steps and isolate this issue further.

Let us know how those steps go.

Take care.
